DES S007 - 5 Days Birding On The Central Rift Circuit
Day 1: Nairobi – Nyeri
08.00 hrs. Two hours drive through lush Kikuyu farmland with coffee bushes to Mukurwe-ini river valleys to spot out Hinde's Babbler a Kenyan endemic. Full day at Wajee Nature Camp, a bird sanctuary preserved for the benefit of nature. Dinner and overnight at the Outspans Hotel or Aberdare Country Club.

Day 2 – Nyeri – Mt. Kenya – Samburu
08:00 hrs. Leave after breakfast for Mt. Kenya National Park through Naru Moru or Sirimon gate. Spend half day birding in the park and cross the Equator line to have hot lunch at Nanyuki. Leave after lunch to arrive Samburu early evening. Dinner and overnight at the lodge or camp.
Day 3 – Samburu
Full day in Samburu. This is the only protected area in which the enigmatic near-threatened, restricted-range William's Lark is known to occur. Regionally threatened species like the Martial Eagle, African Darter, Great Egret, White-headed Vulture, and Yellow-billed Oxpecker are known to occur here. Dinner and overnight at lodge or camp.
Day 4 – Samburu – Meru National Park
Early morning game drive at 0630hrs to 0830hrs. Breakfast then leave for Meru National Park arriving in time for lunch. Afternoon can be spent birding in the park. Species to watch out for Saddle-billed Stork, Martial Eagle, African Finfoot, Pel's Fishing Owl and Violet Wood-hoopoe. Dinner and overnight at Leopard Rock hotel.
Day 5 –Meru National Park – Masinga Reservoir on Tana River - Nairobi
After breakfast leave for Embu and drive to the Masinga for water birds colonizing site. Masinga is notable mainly for its waterbirds, with breeding colonies of Cormorants and African Darters. Have lunch in Embu town and leave for Nairobi in the late afternoon.
